2007 Navarro Pinot Gris, Anderson Valley. 13.6% alcohol.
Very pale yellow color. When I opened it last night, it seemed closed. Not much on the nose and tight on the palate, with very firm acidity and a chalky finish. Tonight, it's opened up a bit. Once I let it warm from fridge-temperature, I get a light peach blossom nose with what seems like a little spicy character to it. Much more round in the mouth than day one, there's some viscosity that reminds me a little of pineapple juice overlaying that same chalky acidity. Still comes off bone dry, and it had enough stuffing to match up reasonably well to pork tamales that were not heavily peppered. It's pretty good now, although I'm not sure it justifies the $19 tariff. If it improves in the bottle over the next few years, then it may turn out to be a steal.
