Are we sure of what way we are looking at this? :) I have an older Riedel Cardonnay glass that has a mark that looks like "ac" if you look at it from the top, but "upside down"? If you look at it from the bottom, it looks like "gc", or a backwards "c" and a "b". I'm not evenb sure what MY glass is supposed to be saying! :D The way I would "normally look at the rim, it looks like a backwards "c" and an "r"? Newer Riedels are different, I think, but I will have to look at a few...

The mark is at the top of the glass base and appears to be a lower case "ar" with the other lines surrounding as shown. The font would be similar to the Windows ISOCPEUR font. When viewed from the opposite angle the "r" could be a "j" but the "a" lacks any letter component so I have to assume I'm looking at the mark properly. I sent this over to the folks at Riedel and they replied that this is not their mark, nor ever has been. So far this has completely stumped everyone I have shown it to.

The glass marks I see are usually "right side up" when the glass is held so the mark is on the "down" side of the base, and one is looking down at it, if that makes sense? I.e., the edge of the base is the *bottom* of the font letters....

Was this glass purchased in the USA? Maybe a Google search on "wine glasses" would turn up some maker whose initials matched?

I agree that the marks I have seen are also right side up when the mark is at the bottom, but this one doesn't fit because of the lettering (unless he/she meant to do that). The glasses were purchased in Colorado several years ago at a store that isn't there anymore. The Google searches I have done haven't turned up anything (unfortunately) which is why I asked to have the mark posted here. I'm hoping that someone somewhere has seen this mark. IMHO, these glasses were far better than the Riedel Vinum Burgundy glasses. I think my wife broke them intentionally to get me to stop drinking so much wine! :D
