WTN: Broquel Malbec 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Jan 29, 2009 7:39 pm

Trapiche
Mendoza

Dark red in the glass.

A rich nose: spicy, chocolate, black fruit. Somewhere along the way the nose faded leaving not much of anything in its place.

Thick and full in the mouth, black cherry, blueberry and blackberry, juicy, creamy, floral, chocolate, good acidity, very rich.

With time, the wine develped a bit more of an edge, still rich and delicious, but backing away from the earlier thickness and creaminess.

Tangy, drying finsh.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

I frequently buy this same wine. I prefer it with a couple more years of age (something confirmed multiple times in blind tastings).
