WTN: J&F Lurton Reserva Chardonnay 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Jan 22, 2009 7:44 pm

Uco Valley, Mendoza

Bright yellow in the glass.

Toasty, buttery, smoky on the nose.

Lemon, green apple, pear, a hint of tangerine, good tangy acidity, medium weight, gently toasty, honeyed, very clean, rich and intense, with some mild bitter citrus rind.

With time, the wine became a bit tangier, with the citrus becoming more pronounced.

Lemon, toast, on the very long, mouthwateirng finish.

A very classy, very impressive wine that drinks, IMHO, far above its price point.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian) and a steal at that price.

Screwcap closure.

Their Pinot Gris used to be an excellent buy Bruce. Nice note on the chard though.

Bob... agree 200% with your comments on the Pinot Gris by Lurton... its a shame they make so little of the stuff.

Its nice to read folks are trying white wines from Argentina..... :D
