WTN: Jaboulet Cornas and Oremus 3 Puttonyos

by Jay Labrador » Sat Jan 17, 2009 12:11 pm

Jaboulet Cornas 2004 - Some brick on the rim but the center is still dark. Leather and tobacco on the nose. Seems rather soft in the mouth but firms up on the finish. Tea-like. Dried herbs. Good fruit on the finish. Not quite at peak but already enjoyable. A good, solid wine.

Tokaji Oremus 3 Puttonyos 2000 - Pineapple, apricot, orange blossom. Sweeter than I expected. Quite complex. Orange rind and marmalade on the fairly long finish. Very good.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Glad to hear the Jaboulet was good. At one time I had a few bottles of their 1995 Cornas in the cellar. It was so acidic that it was undrinkable.
