Pecorino - Cheese or Wine

I had a very pleasant introduction to this newly revived grape variety last spring, thanks to my girlsfriends mother who got it in Ascoli Piceno, originally from Abbruzzo but has made its was to 'Le Marche' this is a particular grape veriety, giving a full bodied white with excellent structure, not too dry, hints of fresh fruit, packing a min 13.5/Vol.
Since this first experience I have been delving into the world of pecorino's especially from abbruzzo but have found them a little more disappointing or just not for me, fruitier less structure, not greatly balanced, but I'm going ahead with this quest,
I have heard that as wine variety they serve it in some NY restaurants wondering whether anyone else has had any experiences with this wine, and who could maybe direct me to some upstanding producers.
