WTN: '03 Hexamer Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Spätlese*

Very fine Riesling from Hexamer. It's quite sweet, as well as richer in texture than normal spatlese, but with good balancing acidity & minerality it makes an engaging pairing to a turkey dinner with all the wine-stumping accompaniments. It even worked with the sweet potatoes! The wine is still very young, so many more years of positive drinking are ahead of it.

Screw cap by the way...score one for the good guys.

Sounds very tasty - and a nice reminder that I should be drinking more from Hexamer. I just had the 05 of this a few months back, but for whatever reason that bottle was under a cork. (Although at least my 05 Hexamer Schlossbockelheimer In Den Felsen Spatlese is under screwcap, which pleases me no end.) And congratulations on finally finding the elusive wine match with turkey dinner.

Have either of you had the Hexamer '01 MR Auslese and have any thoughts on it? A local retailer recently turned up some bottles for $24-ish and says they're in good shape.

Haven't had it, but given that it's 01 and Hexamer (a really good producer), I'd say that's a great buy.

I haven't tasted it yet, but have a couple of bottles I bought 4.5 years ago for...$24. Seems like a good deal.

Thanks... I didn't realize that Rieslingfan was David...

Seems like it's worth buying and finding a reason to drink a bottle this week... and then grab more if the wine is appealing to me and in good shape.

Harrumph...my alter ego has been betrayed.

I am looking forward to following this wine over the next 8-10 years. I think it will be fine over that time span & maybe even longer. I may bury one or two bottles deep in the cellar.
