WTN: Schloss Vollrads Riesling QBA, Rheingau, Germany

by JC (NC) » Mon Dec 29, 2008 6:57 pm

I had a glass of this at a restaurant and neglected to write down the vintage. It isn't listed on their online website.

Listed as organic, sustainable or biodynamic wine. Light petrol nose--not unpleasant. Medium to full body. Tasting rich and dry or semi-dry. It had a light spicy component and tasted in synch with the spiced pear slices in red wine sauce on my cheese plate. I haven't had a QBA Riesling in some time but this was a nice one. It also complemented the seared shrimp in lemongrass sauce that I had as my entree.

JC,

Schloss Vollrads was one of the first wines that I started drinking regularly after I become interested in wines via Riesling. I have to admit that I drank so much of it that I could barely stand to look at the label. I haven't had as much as a sip of that wine for close to six years now. Perhaps I should give it another chance.
