TN: Venison Tenderloin and Sportoletti

In celebrating finally getting a deer on Saturday, we had the tenderloins off it with a 2004 Sportoletti Villa Fidelia. My first bottle of a case and it was a complete delight to drink. Extremely smooth tannins and wonderful balance, the black fruits were of the black raspberry and plum type with little complexity due to its youth. This full bodied wine never went to the jammy side of ripeness and the balance was so perfect that I can see this bottle aging well for a decade or more. Made of equal parts of Merlot, Cab. Sauvignon and Cab. Franc.
