WTN: Castello Montauto Vernaccia Di San Gimignano 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Dec 20, 2008 7:57 pm

Agr. Villa Cerna

Very light yellow in the glass.

Spicy, peppery, citrus rind and honey on the nose.

Very juicy, lemon, grapefruit, green apple, pear, orange peel, zingy acidity, medium weight, slightly creamy, lightly honeyed. Very refreshing and delicious.

Lemon rind, light honey on the drying, mouthwatering finish.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

Bruce,

My wife and I got turned on to Vernaccia on a vacation trip to San Gimignano. We both love it. I've had the Castello on a couple of occasions. I agree with you, it is a very good wine. If you ever happen to see a Fugnano, pick it. Fugnano makes some the best Vernaccia that I've had.
