WTN: Felipe Rufini Malbec Mendoza 2006

Quite enjoyable lighter style of Malbec, with under 14% nominal abv and oak not dominant. Very high toned red berry fruit with a strong acidic background. Quite interesting savory/lifted finish. I agree with the shop owner at Alameda Wine Company that this is almost old worldish in character. Solid 88 points.

I did too. Despite being on a winebuying freeze....It was not a lot of money.

To some degree, I've liked pretty much everything I've tasted so far from this winemaker, even their budget Trumpeter line. Their winemaker's taste must be on the same wavelength as mine/ours! As you say, more old-world than one usually finds with big Argentine producers.
