2005 Jacques Prieur Beaune Champs-Pimont 1er Cru 13%
Had a half bottle of this at Landmarc recently and liked it very much, so broke my self-imposed buying curfew and picked up three 750s to bring back with me, the first of which was sacrificed last night. It did not disappoint: lovely crimson in the glass, on the darker side of the burgundy spectrum, with an expressive nose of fine, high-toned cherry with an elegant touch of vanillin. Very good acid/sweet balance and lovely mouthfeel. This has great class written all over it and is already drinking beautifully for a young wine from a powerful vintage. Highly recommended as a first rate burgundy experience that won't break the bank.
