WTN: Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon 1996

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Dec 07, 2008 7:42 pm

Napa

Decanted about 50 minutes before supper.

After 12 years, still dark purple in the glass.

Black fruit, leather and spices on the nose.

Medium weight, good acidity, juicy black cherry, raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, pencil lead, spicy, earthy, black olives, tarry.

A very long finish: leather, smoke, tar, cranberry and cherry.

We don't drink Cabernet very often, but this was a real treat. A great wine.
