2008 - eventually a Kabinett year?

by Fredrik L » Thu Nov 13, 2008 8:09 am

I just spoke to Daniel Vollenweider about 2008 in the Mosel region, and he was very satisfied with his results. Thanks to the rain, this would not be a botrytis year, but rather a very good Kabinett and Spätlese one, as ripeness and extract levels looked fine.

If this turns out to be the case, I will personally buy as many Kabinetts as I can afford.

Greetings from Sweden / Fredrik L

Hmm...

Is any year not a good year anymore? Ah well, I have no space, so my "no screwcap/vino-lok, no purchase" dictate may serve me well.

This is exactly what Terry Theise told me last week. Of course 2007 was supposed to be a great 'Kabinett' vintage at first too. It turned out to be so much more!

Prost!
