- 2006 Château Caronne Ste. Gemme - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (11/5/2008)
25€; 13% abv; 60% Cab S; 35% Merlot; 5% Petit Verdot; barrique, 25% of which new. Dark red. It does have some new oak aromas, but they are restrained and rather a classic Left Bank scent of dark fruit, cedar, graphite and blackcurrant is to the fore. All the components are there: healthy fruit that isn't over the top in any way, very strong and drying tannins, moderate acidity and a lovely fresh, herbal aftertaste. It is too young to bring pleasure now, but I think I will enjoy this very much in the medium term.

I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

I enjoyed the 2005 edition of this wine very much.
