Well, some might say I have necrophiliac tendencies. I like to think of it as appreciating the subtleties of maturity. Of course, there's a thin line here...

Gotta love our 19th century legislators. We did just get Daylight Saving Time, so I guess we can't complain too much. Luddites rule! Just be lined up at the wine mart door at 6:00 sharp.

Are ALL winelovers democrats, or at least Obama supporters? Are there any republican/McCain supporters here (other than me)?
I guess I will be drinking cheap wine tonight, and not celebrating. I sincerely hope that Mr. Obama, in his first job of running anything, does a great job of running the US. And congrats to all his supporters. He ran a hell of a campaign.

OW,

The republicans (all two of them) are hiding out in the F&F forum & over on Squires board (where politics is verboten).

We're heading over to a party that's being thrown by some very liberal friends. They've already told us (tongues firmly within cheeks) that they plan on serving elitist food and beverages such as chardonnay, arugula salad, etc.

You know, the unbelievably long and unbelievably expensive presidential campaigns at least assure that each candidate has executive experience by the end of the campaign. I suspect it is a lot like running the White House.

As for your dismay at winelovers being democrats, I understand that Joe Six-Pack is looking for a drinking companion tonight.

It was not planned to be a celebration wine, but I happened to be drinking '90 Dom Perignon when they called it for Obama.

Not so bad...

Boy were they on the mark when they said North Carolina was a toss-up for Obama or McCain! Obama leading by 12,000 votes--each candidate at the 50% mark. We did elect a Democratic (female) governor and a Democratic (female) senator but both races were pretty nasty. If I had been inclined to vote for Elizabeth Dole, some of the negative ads her campaign ran against Kay Hagan would have changed my mind (AGAINST Liddy Dole.) Whew, it's over! Don't have to listen to any more of those negative ads.

Huh?

Wow.

Can't buy beverage alcohol in Kentucky on election day either Rahsaan. There is evidence of vote buying for a shot (or a bottle) of rotgut in the past. Alcohol sales are deferred until after the polls close, which is 6PM local time in Kentucky.

OK, guys, I stand corrected: liquor sales are OK after 6 pm. Too bad I didn't figure that out until reading this thread  Instead, we just had to soldier on with still wines.

I was waiting for James Roscoe to chime in here, but I seem to recall that he shared your inclinations, OW. (I hope that I haven't incorrectly put words into his mouth) So, you're not alone... completely.

Ended the night with a bottle of '99 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage. Very nice stuff.

I'm still waiting on the '96!
Is the '99 ready to go?

Don't look at me, I voted for Bob Barr.

However, there are relatively many fewer wineries in red states than blue states. The states that voted for Obama comprise 88 percent of all the wineries in the U.S., and a whopping 98.6 percent of the volume.
