WTN: The Other Vintage (2002 German)

2002 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (10/11/2008)
The best bottle yet from the case. Ripe peach, pear, honey, notable Riesling development & a balanced palate where the sweetness is consumed by the acidity on the peach skin finish. There's still a bit of phenolic bite, so more cellar time is warranted, but it does drink very well now.

Thanks for notes. I like the '02 vintage, I wish I bought more.

Must be time to open another one. Then another. I've got only two left from a full case, so I guess I liked these sort of youngish, against vintage pattern. My last Urbans-Hof anything...

The 02s seem to be in a really great place right now (at least from the Spats and Kabinetts I've had recently). I only wish I had shown a little more restraint with most of my purchases and not drunk some of them so quickly.

It's not like there isn't more where this one came from...

Not really Bob.

I know you prefer your wines drier, but over time the sweetness will back off and the aged character of Riesling will come through & that's what I am looking for.

I just gave my only bottle away as a gift. Looks like I was being generous there...

I was gonna say I like 2002, then I see I already did (damn resurrected threads).
But I have less than 2 cases left (mostly Christoffel and Donnhoff, a bt of Leitz and others)
