WTN: Why, oh why???? aka Previously unknown Burgundy

For 20 euros I got a wine which had immense complexity for the price, was true to the terroir and wasn't over-oaked. So I was glad to see that we got Santenay since the Drouhin sold out. I'd never heard of the producer. The first few sniffs and sips seemed like I'd get another QPR (well, at 23 euros, this is relative of course) Burgundy. But then the oak came in....

Farily dark for a Burg. At first the nose is quite nice: strawberry, ripe fruit, a touch of vegetation, pleasantly plentiful earth. But then the oak (though only 10% new oak used) kicks in and it starts smelling like a young St. Julien!! The palate also has fine fruit, pleasantly high acidity, but the oakiness becomes a bit too prominent with air. Not really my cup of tea despite some delightful elements.
