As is often the case with a memorable wine, they sneakup on you when you least expect it. Tonight I decided to open my only bottle of '98 Virgin Hills (AUS) that we aquired when in Boston 2 years ago when we picked up some '00 Bdx futures. This wine was a carbon copy of a '98 Bel Air Bdx Superior only better. At 12.5% ABV and somewhere close to its peak it was sublime. showing lots of damp earth, leather and ample black fruit. No doubt a Bdx blend and a well done effort. Served with a pork tenderloin and finished with a fresh blackberry cobbler, perfect!!
