I had the need for MS Access the other day. I wanted to see if I could just download it from Microsoft and lo and behold, Microsoft Office 2007 is available (including Access, Power Point Publisher, etc) so I figured why not.

I know find myelf running the Opera browser because the new IE7 closes every time I open it. It takes me about fifteen minutes to open my Outlook.

I have been downloading, installing, uninstalling, defragging etc etc with nonstop popup error reports for about 36 hours now and I am losing my sanity!

When the say BETA they ain't kiddin...

Thanks for the advice. I have a two year old computer with about 60% free and no Norton!

After the defrag, I'm doing a little better. I still just wish I could open an IE Window without immediate crash.

BTW, here's the other kicker. There's a page to go to that has all the bug fixes and stuff for Office 2007; when I go, it claims I'm not using these porgrams and asks me if I want to download it! The only fix they have "if you find this page in error" is to add the fix page to allowe sites and make sure that your security is on medium, niether of which makes a difference.

On the other hand, the databases I was working with, I hve handled nicely using Access 2007, I just can't seem to do ANYTHING else on my computer :)

Alan,

Follow your instinct--throw it out the window and buy a Mac. ;)

You're a damn genius Randy. You led me to the source of (one) of my problems.

Although IE is still crashing and outlook is still pretty slow, my main problem was that I have Google desktop installed and its trying to archive the database whose tables I convereted into about 200 Megs + of sql (txt) files.
