Someplace on the interent there was a recent post (so it must be true, no ) that cases with Stelvin closures should not be stacked more 2 high. The implication was that any additional weight contributed to an increased failure in the closure. I'm thinking this is a myth as virtually all wine cases are stacked layer upon layer at some point in the distribution process. Comments?

They are trucked on pallets stacked 5 or 6 cases high. Imagine the feul waste if they could only be stacked 2 high! As a retailer htey would be a nightmare to store.

Standard shipping pallet is around 56 cases, depending upon the size/configuration of the case. That works out to from 10 to 14 cases per layer.

I've never heard of this "no stacking' thing, and I'm ITB.

I suspect its origination point could have come from...oh, Portugal, or Spain perhaps. Next we'll hear that if we stack Stelvins three cases high, it will mean the disappearance of another endangered species.

Indeed, and at a guess that will be the cork marketing team
