WTN: Mandino Cane Rossese and Triacca Nebbiolo

2004 Mandino Cane Dolceacqua Superiore Vigneto Arcagna Liguria
Imp: Adonna Imports, Waltham, MA. 13.5%abv.
Light dry red of 100% rossese that is wonderfully aromatic, full of fruit and mineral, crisply acidic, and extremely refreshing. It reminds me of ruché with its ever-changing aromatic profile although it doesn’t have quite as much complexity. Good stuff!

1999 Triacca La Gatta Riserva Valtellina Superiore Lombardy
Imp: Rosenthal.
Young, traditionally-made, nebbiolo that is clamped down tight aromatically right now. The tastes are very primary macerated cherries and plum with solid tannins, very good balance, and an elegant mouthfeel. In time this should be a very good nebbiolo at a good (<$30) price point.
