WTN: Currant Event and a Rosé Burg

2001 Merryvale Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa, CA.
$22 I’m really starting to dislike strong red currant aromas and this wine has it at overpowering levels. The taste has some Cali earth mixed with lots of dark fruit, the finish has fine tannins and chocolately tones, but I can’t get past the currants.
2003 Domaine Digioia-Royer Bourgogne Rosé (Chambolle-Musigny)
$16 Joyously bright ruby red color that yells Spring. While the aroma is fairly subdued, the taste more than compensates with tart cherry and minerals. Lots of good acidity, soft but noticeable tannins and a crisp clean finish. A bit pricey for rosé but it’s a nice drink.
