Yarra Valley.

Sweet oak and green peas on the nose.

A rather odd wine, with sweet oak (vanilla, caramel) competing head to head with a strong vegetal streak for dominance. Neither wins.

I was able to find some pears and lemons in this strange brew, spicy, peppery, moderate acidity. Fairly long mouthwatering finish.

A bit too strange for my tastes.

What an odd wine, Bruce. Any chance it was slightly corked, and that's what caused that vegetal streak? I've had CH a couple times (though not this vintage, and that's not typical.

Anything is possible, I suppose, but I don't think it was corked, although it might have suffered from some other flaw. I think I bought four bottles: the first two were great, the last two were strange.
