Passing of Israel Ivzan, Carmel's CEO

I just wanted to inform you that Israel Ivzan, the CEO of Carmel Winery just passed away last night. Mr Ivzan played a very important role in the continuing reinvention of the winery and contributed immensely to the renaissance of the Israeli wine industry.

Baruch Dayan Emes. NEver met the guy, but if he was the one largely responsible for taking a winery making crap and turning it into a modern, quality based winery, my hat is off to him. When did he lead? I recall in the late '90s when they contacted me about Rishon LeTzion, but I don't know whether he was involved at the time. I think that was before Royal's involvement. The real quality improvement occured after Royal came on board. Eventually, Rishon LeTzion was closed. Has anyone purchased it? If not, I wonder... could make a mighty nice modern winery, with a few improvements.
