David,

I highly doubt that Flam will release their 2010 reserve Cab or Merlot anytime soon. They haven't released their 2009 reserves, yet, and I don't think that Royal has the clout to get Flam to release these wines prematurely. My understanding is that Flam will not release the kosher reserve wines until early 2014, other than the Reserve Syrah 2010 that has been released several months ago.

Pinchas, the Flam wines will be available soon along with the Tulip wines, fear not. 2013 for sure, if not Passover...

Also, the Saslove wines are being imported by Allied and all the Adom wines seem to be approved in the TTB database. When I was at Tulip and at Flam on my past trip they said they will be releasing their reserves soon, but that they were all far too young. For exact dates, ask Gary L - who is lurking around here somewhere...

This past week's wines:

http://kosherwinemusings.com/2012/12/27 ... t-weekend/

The Ella Valley Rose is nice - Lin has made a clear separation from Doron in her wine making technique, would love to hear what others think about this. Also, the Gat Shomron 06/07 Merlot is really nice, though Elie thought it was a dud. The 07 Wadi Katlav is still kicking, but does not have that Har Bracha acidity that makes it pop! Tzuba PN was OK, and the 09 Alma SMV is really coming together nicely!

OK, so all is cleared up. Chai Wines was an import company that came and went, and was the original import company for all things Saslove, other than the Saslove by K. Also, I double checked with Royal, they verified my previous assertion that the new Tulips and the new Flam reserve wines will be here in 2013, hopefully by Passover, but that is in the air still - depending on transport and the such.

Nothing too exciting this past weekend...
2010 Recanati Rose B+/*** Holding up pretty well but the 2011 spoiled me
2009 Dalton Reserve Wild Yeast Viognier: OBM-- This bottle was near death :( Second in a row... I have a few bottles left. I hope they're still ok.
2007 Yarden Pinot Noir: B+ to A-/*** I've been doing my best to drink up my stock before they all die (as several bottles have already been bad). I lucked out on this one! Alive and kicking!
2009 Peraj Petita: A-/*** Delicious as always.

So who is this Elie? Certainly isn't me as I've never had the privilege of trying the wine in question.

As for the port: here, you've thrown me a softball: Teperberg Nevel

I ain't crazy enough to argue with a disappointed fan...

And yes: It was the Nevel! :D I'm sipping some now...

I will soon post my own TN of the Nevel, I'm just getting a bit lazy as I've visited many wineries over the past few weeks and took countless notes, some of which not on my iphone as opposed to what I usually do so I can't copy-paste them and will have to type them all.

Did the tasting include Kinor Dovid? I loved the Nevel but I don't think it's in the same league as the KD...

The KD 10 yr port is nice but not better than the Nevel IMHO, different though. Again, the KD 8yr is not a port but a dessert wine in a category of its own, true killer and certainly more enjoyable than the Nevel. Again IMHO.

A very unexciting weekend ahead for me wine-wise, with 4 different mevushal Teperberg, decent but not great. TNs after Shabbat.

If you put it that way, I guess I'd agree, except that I'd hardly categorize the KD as a dessert wine. It's VERY food friendly--especially with cheese and not quite sweet enough to deserve the dessert label. Also, you can easily finish the bottle in 1 sitting :-) I also liked the 8 year better than the 10. Shabbat Shalom!

Just compared the 10 year and 8 year KD K'Ports and you're right on. The 10 year is much more of a port-style wine and quite good, but the 8 year is simply sublime and in a class of its own. Much less sweet and far more delicate.... Gan Eden in a bottle!
