Has anyone had the 2005 Yatir Forest or Shiraz recently?

The latest drinking window I have is to 2014, but seems short

Any thoughts/ideas?

Hi Menachem.
Opened a Yatir Forest 2005 a month ago and it was excellent, even after having been stored in a thermo-electric cooler where the temperature fluctuates and reaches 18 degrees on very hot days. Although I am not qualified to judge drinking windows, the 2014 seems to be extremely early.

I had the Shiraz a few months ago and it was great but I'd drink it over the next 2-3 years.

I had the 05 Forest about a year ago and it was very impressive and enjoyable, felt like at the beginning of its drinking window.
Assuming that your storing conditions are 100% I believe it can comfortably develop (and not just age, or 'hold on') over the next few years and last much longer than that.
Being on the careful side, if it's just one bottle, I'd wait 2-4 years to catch it early, and if it's a bunch I'd start with the first over the next year and then extrapolate according to your taste and preferences.

I drank both this shabbos, and i would say that the shiraz, while excellent, seemed fully mature, with maybe 18-24 motnhs of peak left

The Forest was outstanding, and its hard for me to believe this wine doesnt have more time to mature, and then a 3 year peak after that

I have a wine celler, "perfect" conditions, and another 9 bottles of the 2005 - so I will space them over 4 years instead of the next 18 months

I agree with you guys. I tasted it again this April and I agree that the wine could use more time to develop. I brought that up to Rogov a while back. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=39942
