Okay, so we change the names of the forums ...

Founded by the late Daniel Rogov, focusing primarily on wines that are either kosher or Israeli.

Okay, so we change the names of the forums ...

What exactly do you want to change them TO?

I've seen a lot of back and forth about this. Israel or not? Kosher or not? And remember, we are talking about the large-print titles of the forums here, not the extended descriptions.

What shall we call the forums, with a limit of three to five words? Please put forward your ideas, and we'll see if we can work toward a consensus or perhaps another poll.

Robin, as I understand, this post is addressed exclusively to those 22 that have voted for changing the name of the forum.

Otherwise, my suggestion for the name is "Rogov's Wine Forum".

If we are changing the name, it should be to something that would show up on a google search if somebody were looking to talk about Israeli or kosher wine. Something like Israeli/International/Kosher Wine Forum. If we want the subsets could be Rogov's Wine Forum and Rogov's Culinary Corner with the explanation that they are named after the forum's founder. By the time somebody is looking at those titles, they will already be on the forum and would only then be turned off if they know who Rogov was and have something against him. Otherwise they will have found the forum.
I have mentioned something like this before and noticed absolutely no groundswell of approval from either side so it must be a good idea.

Well, I was not one of the 22 in the majority, but here are my suggestions -

"The Stiff-Necked People's Wine Club"

Heck, that descriptor dates back to Moses' time...

Alternatively, how about the "Middle Eastern Wines Forum"

Alek, not entirely. As in any decision, once it is made, then we hope that those who disagreed will, however reluctantly, go along. And in that case, all members of the community are entirely welcome to participate. In no way should this decision be limited to only those who voted in favor.

Moreover, I don't know how to emphasize any more strongly than I already have that Rogov's name will be honored always in the descriptions of each forum, which appear alongside the forum titles and expand upon them.

Hasn't that been supplanted by "Southwest Asia" among the PC?

And doesn't שִׁחֵ֣ת עַמְּךָ֔ really connote something more like "spoiled people" than the King James' "stiff-necked"? We could probably work with "spoiled," if you really want us to.

Actually I was referring to the term עם קשה עורף (Am kshe oref), oref is Hebrew for the back of the neck, kshe means hard or difficult, Am means people, so the translation of "a stiff-necked people" is quite accurate, and in fact fits the tone of many of the discussions here of late...

Call me nuts...

The Holy Wine Forum - "Holy" may refer to 3 definitions:

1) Holyland - The land of Israel of course, in which grow our beloved grapes...

2) Holy food and wine - Kosher

3) Holy **it! Which is the reaction I'd expect from people who might not like this title...

And there's not just "against" and "in favor" but also a third opinion as I assume most participants in these forums are Jewish and as everybody should know:

2 Jews, 3 opinions!

Cheers!

Keeping in mind that the collection of forums brought by Rogov into the fold are designated as Rogov's Place, and assuming that doesn't change, Rogov's umbrella would still casts a prominent shadow over the forums even if they are to have their names changed.

"The Israeli/Kosher Wine Corner" is my understated suggestion.

Alternatively, accounting for some of the theatrics in our forum, I suggest:

"The Israeli/Kosher Wine Theater"

I am cool with "Israeli and Kosher Wine Forum"

Not to nitpick, but I would actually reverse the words to say "Kosher and Israeli Wine Forum" as this is predominantly a Kosher forum with a non-kosher israeli component that is very critical and unique to the world wide web yet much narrower in scope

Given the amount of discussion here on the Israeli Wine industry (irrelevant of the kosher or non kosher specific wines) and the desire to be more inclusive, I suggest sticking with Israel first.

Indeed for Kosher, Israel is still number one, and then there is Israel by itself, which we hope to grow our user base around. Hence, lets stick with what was originally discussed in the first thread.

I think I see a consensus forming around "Israeli and Kosher Wine Forum". If there's no strong disagreement, I'm happy to accept that without confirming it with a poll, unless a lot of you would rather do a poll.

May I assume that the same pattern would apply to the other forum, then? "Israeli and Kosher Food Forum"? And the overall category, "Israeli Wine and Food Forums"?

If we have general agreement on this, then we should be able to resolve pretty quickly the descriptions of the forums, taking care that Rogov's memory is properly enshrined in that.
