TN - 2010 Saslove Aviv Shiraz (K)

Took my son to the car museum in kibbutz Eyal and discovered the Saslove winery next door, picked up a random mixed case. Bottle #1:

2010 Saslove Shiraz Aviv - Israel, Galilee (4/29/2012)
Two novelties for Saslove. One: a Shiraz in the Aviv series. Two: the first vintage that the winery produces kosher wines. The wine is still hazy. Opening with a sharp, leathery nose. On attack black cherry, but then followed by sensations that are very in-Shiraz: tea, lather, marshmallow, nutty maron glace, leading to a mouth drying finish with mint and herbs. This wine has not settled down yet. pleasant now, but let's see how it develops. (87 pts.)

We should have a time table regarding the Arrival of these wines in USA by early summer. They had but before the deal was finished a change of heart came thru..

I am looking forward to the 2010 reserve level wines currently in the barrel. My tasting note for the Shiraz mentioned (see my website for my writeup on Saslove and the other five current kosher releases http://www.yossiescorkboard.com/?page_id=1590):

Saslove, Aviv, Shiraz, 2010: Blended with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine has a bit of funk on its initial nose which blows off to reveal cherries, currants, tannin, crackling black pepper, a bit of singed espresso and a sweet caramel undertone. The nose is rich with more fruit and spicy wood, backed up by wood tannins, a touch of green notes and more extra-dark chocolate leading into a lingering finish with a pleasing bitterness to it. Drink now through 2016.
