YET for you or me it just did not do it at all and were in complete confusion over what people were talking about?

New 2008 Covenant for me was . a Big HUH?>? Scratching head.. Did not find that rich Chocolate, oak rich full goodness so many were talking about.

Yet an 03' was a Big WOW and wonderful!

The Cave '07: While I enjoyed it very much it did not wow me at all, I like the Tishbi Estate Cabernet Sauvignon '07 (also a bordeaux-blend in fact) a lot more and it's less than half the price.

Yatir Petit Verdot '08: Very good but not that special.

Some more I guess, nothing coming up to mind right now...

Adding Covenant CS '05 (I should have thought of it when I first read your post Yehoshua!): Perhaps it lacked some decanting time but was a huge disappointment for me, I expected a lot more! When I had the '08/'09 (can't recall which one was it) it made it up to me thank God!

When I tasted some 2004 Bordeaux a few years ago, I disliked some pretty fancy names, like Picohm-Lalande, Magdelaine and Lafleur-Petrus. I feel bad about it because it was obviously the setting and my lack of experience. They shouldn't have been that bad.

Recently tasted Staggs Leap 07 on a tasting and it was way off. Luckily I tasted another bottle about half a year ago and it was huge, so I knew it is the bottle and not the wine itself.

1982 Chateau Margaux.

Everyone else was beside themselves with praise. I thought it tasted like spoiled berry juice that had an old library book soaked in it. To me it was a clear case of people claiming to like something because they thought they were supposed to. I'm sure there are great examples of the '82 Margaux. This was not one of them.

The Ladoix I had was bought from an online retail source, left to stand a couple of weeks to get rid of shipping shock. So storage shouldn't have been an issue.

Did you buy it on release? Wasn't there only one vintage made of this wine?

2007 Carmel mediteranean. It got great reviews. My bottle , last summer just had nothing interesting to it. Rogov AH, suggested it at have been in a dumb phase. I havent tried it again. Has anyone had that experience with this wine? Anyone tasted it Lately?.

Sam, I tasted it on Aug. 2010 and it was rather closed and tight. I retasted it (blind) last Nov. and it was terrific (I can link to Hebrew TNs if anyone's interested).

Sam - Drank Mediterranean 07 this week. Fantastic! I've probably tasted about 6 bottles of this so far, and it has definitely progressed. The tannins at this point are completely integrated and flavors are more pronounced. Try it again.

Yoel - I enjoyed a number of bottles of Ladoix back in '08-'09. The last bottle I tasted was at the end of '10 and I felt that it was already headed downhill.

Tasted the Ladoix in 2010 and it was way DEAD!!!

2002 Gaston & Pierre Ravaut Ladoix (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Ladoix) - Score: B-
The nose on this browning ruby colored wine is smoky with vanilla, coffee, strawberry, cherry, plum, herbs/mint. The mouth on this light to medium bodied wine has strawberry, plum, and cherry notes. The mid palate is acidic with fading tannins. The finish is medium long with cherry, coffee, strawberry, and mint. It is a wine well past its peak, and one that should be used up or tossed.

Tasted the 2007 Yatir Forest at KFWE. I found it unmemorable.

More seriously (for me), back in 2005 I bought a small case of Chateau De La Tour Clos Vougeot 2002 after a tasting. I thought enough of it then to pay $120/bottle but, having drank three of the bottles about a year apart, I can't for the life of me remember what I saw in it.

Bill - the Vougeot was a horrible case of bottle variety! I loved it once at the IFWF and after that it was always a hit or massive miss, depending on the bottle. I mean within the VERY same tasting and day or even hour

You'll be able to tell when you experience what David is talking about. Blah is probably best case scenario at this point.

Sorry but I couldn't refrain but react in writing to this discussion re: Clos Vougeot. Love it! Hate it! Truth be told I can't recall the vintage, whether or not it was the '02 but experienced exactly the same as Dave at the Tzur tasting last February in Tel Aviv but was also AH! and then within 2 hours blah as Bill says...

Price Melange. 2004 or 2005. I keep hoping this wine needs more time although I haven't opened a bottle in over a year. I keep thinking I'll really like it next time I open it. It is an awfully pricey wine to find uninteresting.
