I'm in the martini camp. I like Tangueray 10, a hint of vermouth in the air (okay, okay pretty much straight gin), shaken over ice, served straight up with a couple of olives. A girl has to get her fruit/veggie servings in somehow.

Often at home during the cold months I'll make what I know as a French Manhattan. Makers Mark and Chambord. Shaken over ice. Now that's a good cocktail.

In fact...I think I'll have one tonight while I write my curriculum.

Um...is there a third choice? :P

That should have been "FOR" me, of course ... good catch, though!

Something local on tap.

Failing that a whiskey at least 18 years old.

I never tried Maker's Mark with Chambord  and the MM is one of my favorites Bourbons...

I think I'll atempt to try this one tonight
just shake it over ice and stir? my logic says 1 part MM, and 0.5 part Chambord... am I right?

Aviram,

Yes, that's right, except I must admit I make mine a bit larger.

If you shake it long enough, it gets some little ice pieces in it and is nice and frothy.

Let me know what you think!

With re Chambord, if you like the liqueur you will adore the chateau.

I'd hate to have to dust that place.
