Friday night we opened a bottle of Yarden Syrah 2002. Very nice with deep plummy notes and spicy oak. It was, however, a bit hot on the palate with its 14.5% alcohol. Very enjoyable nonetheless.
Shabbat day we drank Ella Valley Chardonnay 2005. I still believe that winemaker Doron Rav-Hon makes the best Chard in Israel--or at least my favorite. Showing very nicely now with a beautiful golden color and great balance. Opens with flinty green apples and yields to buttery toasty notes with lively minerals.
Shavua tov (wishes for a good week) to all.
