Chateau Pontet-Canet, Paullac, 2002 (Kosher Edition): Dark ruby towards garnet, full-bodied, with generous but soft tannins and aromas and flavors of currants and wild berries. Gentle smoky wood and nice hints of minerals throughout, leading to a long, lightly spicy finish. Best from 2007-2015. Score 90. K (Tasted 15 Jan 2005)

Interesting. I didn't know PC did a kosher version. I've heard of Poyferre's. I wonder how many classed growths have kosher versions.

David, Hi....

Many Bordeaux chateaux do kosher wines, some classed, others not, some consistently excellent, others not. A few that come to mind....

Neither Chateau Lafite Rothshchild or Chateau Mouton Rothschild have ever released a kosher edition. Nor, if my guess is correct, will they.

The Rothschild name does, however, appear on several kosher wines - Edmond de Rothschild, Malmaison of Nadine de Rothschild and others, but those wines have no direct connections to the two great Rothschild estates. To add to the confusion perhaps, there is a kosher wine from Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte. Notice though the difference in spelling, as the first represents a family of bankers while the second is related to the well-known pirate.

is the Leoville Poyferre and the Pontet Canet the only classed growths in a kosher edition ? are any more, pehaps the Giscours Mrgx ? (actually maybe the Smith Haute Laffite ??)
