The Spanich cooperative Capcanes has captured the attention of many of our forum members because of its two kosher wines, Peraj haAbib which is the first wine and Peraj Petita, the second wine. The 2006 Peraj Petita is now becoming available in Israel and in the USA (broadly from kosher dealers in the USA and exclusively from Mincol in Tel Aviv - phone Remy at 054 4227380).
I had sampled the 2006 wine earlier (4 Sep 2007) and then again today in my blind tastings. Today's tasting note (consistent with the earlier tasting) follows.

Capcanes, Peraj Petita, Monstant, Spain, 2006: Think of this as the second wine of Peraj HaAbib if you will, but whereas that wine goes for depth, concentration and aging potential, this lighter wine is destined for earlier and easier drinking. Developed primarily in stainless steel, with only 15% oak-aged, this medium-bodied, ruby towards garnet blend of Garnacha del Pais, Tempranillp (known in the region as Ull de Llebre) and Samso (the local name for Carinena or Carignan), shows soft tannins integrating nicely and with generous raspberry, red plum, cassis and cola aromas and flavors, those with an appealing mineral overlay and just the barest hint of sweetness on the long finish. Drink now-2011. Score 90. K (Re-tasted 7 Aug 2008)
