Between the Sommelier trade fair and six other tastings during the past week, there are a great many tasting notes waiting to be formalized. No problem. Late nights can be most pleasant. Both office and home are completely quiet and, with plenty of espresso, an occasional sip of Armagnac, perhaps a bit of salami or cheese from time to time and Nikos Theodrakis in the background, a good time to work.
Why then was last night different from all other nights? Quite simple, somewhere at about three in the morning the world of the present moment and I parted company as I fell sound asleep at my desk. How I eventually made my way from the desk to the couch in the office evades me, but I will admit that when I awoke at about ten a.m. I felt much, much refreshed. Even better, there is a shower in the office so I could refresh myself and better yet, a very pleasant cafe just a few meters from the entrance to the building to which I made my way, there, as was my habit for many years in both Paris and Geneva for several double espressos and three croissants.
Back at home now and soon back to the tasting notes!
