WTN: `05 Cabernet Sauvignon Casillero del Diablo--Concha y Toro, Chile.
In our search for a good CS from Chile, thought I would open this usual dependable wine. Memories of the Carmenere abound, as well as the Syrah so lets see how this one measures up!
Opened an hour, no need to decant, 13.5%.
Colour. Medium purple, thin watery rim.
Nose. Currants, plum, ripe fruit. No sign of Otto`s green peppers! There is some oak in the background and a hint of cherry. All pretty typical for this varietal?
Palate. Taste reflects the nose! Medium bodied, smooth tannins, good entry level wine. Cassis and plum with oak reflections. Seems to lack some grip that I asociate with some of the other Castillero wines. Easy to drink but food helps with this one, especially on the finish.
Cost was $16 Cdn.
Cool website, great music, nice looking fellow and neat chick!!!!
