Pretty red violet color but looks rather dilute or drawn out. Nose not as flowery as some Fleurie wines I've had in the past. It may be pushing its envelope as far as age, unlike a 2000 G. Descombes Morgan Vielles Vignes I had recently that was riding high six years after harvest.
A little raspberry puree in the flavor and a little earth. Harder to pin down than usual with a Beaujolais.
I didn't plan a meal around the wine. I was in the mood for tacos so had the Beaujolais with soft shell tacos and a tossed salad.
A nice wine even though beyond its youthful freshness.
This weekend I'll probably open a Brouilly.
