AOC Cotes du Ventoux Southeastern region of Rhone
Proprietors of the estate: Marie Pirsch and Philippe Danel
95% Syrah, 5% Grenache I believe it was labeled 13.5% alchohol by volume (The 2008 has 20% Grenache; 80% Syrah)
Purchased at Bond Street Imports in Charlotte $24
Website suggests accompanying with wild game, beef, charcuterie, cheeses and pates
Purchased at the recommendation of a salesperson. Inky purple color; opaque. Nose of dark fruits and earthiness. Website suggests decanting for an hour and it did seem to improve with aeration but it really wasn't the style I prefer. Earthy, and an aroma I thought might be described as rubber, vinyl, or tar. On the Bond Street Imports website it does describe a long tarry finish.
This domaine also produces Viognier.
