WTN: My first look at a 2008 CdR.

Côtes du Rhône 2008 - Domaine Sainte-Anne (Steinmaier), Les Celettes, Saint-Gervais (right bank of the Southern Rhône) - Alc.13.5% - (approx. €8).

I got a sip of this Grenache dominated blend at a tasting yesterday at Rob. Totally different from the generous and sweet fruited 2007 from the same estate, it showed an unusually fresh and fragrant bouquet and quite savoury (even sour compared to 07) fresh fruit with minerality and marked acidity and a wet leather tang on a medium but not thin body; refreshing and enjoyable 15/20++ QPR.
