Had the whole family over for Easter turkey dinner on Saturday and enjoyed three good wines.
Creekside Estate Winery
Pinot Grigio 2007
Niagara Peninsula
A very unusual color in the glass: yellow-orange-pink.
Spicy, good acidity, lemon, melon, orange, peppery, quite tangy.
A tangy, peppery finish, with some light bitter citrus rind.
Alandra Tinto NV (I am sure this is a vintage wine, but I was unable to find any date on the labels).
Herdade do Esporão,
Alentejo
A blend of Moreto and Periquita grapes.
Dark red in the glass.
Smoky, earthy nose.
Very smoky in the mouth, meaty, cherry, raspberry, light cranberry, medium weight, good acidity, red licorice.
A very good everyday wine. Purchased at $7.95 (Canadian).
Ganton & Larsen Prospect Winery Census Count 2006 Chardonnay
Okanaga Valley
Bright yellow in the glass.
Buttery, honey, spicy on the nose.
Medium weight, quite full in the mouth, buttery, green apple, lime, very rich, spicy, good acidity. Quite rich and round at the front, ending with a lovely intense shot of lime toward the end.
Very impressive.
