I commented on this 75/25 Monastrell/Syrah blend when we included it in one of our recent neighborhood tastings, where the wine was okay but didn't shine among the admittedly sweeter/fruitier wines. Had the chance to have it again the other night on its own, and I was much more impressed. It is, in fact, its not being as sweet and fruity as your typical $10 wine that distinguishes and reccomends it. It's well balanced, savory with black fruit, roasted meats and herbs, and particularly good as a food wine though it's not unrewarding on its own. Even Otto would like this wine.
