2005 Indaba, Western Cape, Merlot, SA ($10.99 NH Liq Store). Alcohol level: 14%. We have seen this for $3 less, and $3 more. Regardless we still call this a QPR because it drinks like a wine that would cost twice as much.
Unlike the single dimensioned plonk you usually find at this pp, this one leaves you with a heap more. The wine gives a bowl of fruit on the nose and upfront including the proverbial plums, and also cherries, and blackberries. In the middle you get much more fruit, along with some spice, smoke, and chewy tannin. The finish lingered nicely. It is not your average bargain Merlot.
We matched it with a porterhouse steak (she got the fillet), baked potato, and peas. It was
another great Saturday night.
