Meet Scott Gunerman
Meet Scott Gunerman Quick facts:
Born into a military family in Frankfurt, Germany in 1970 ... spent two years in Europe before family moved back to United States ... raised and educated in Syracuse, NY ... graduated from SUNY Geneseo with BA in Communication in 1992…career path took me to Rochester, NY in 1996 ... married in July 2000 ... built a house in Walworth, NY May 2001 ... live happily with wife Jennifer and our two cats, Simon and Garf. Interest in wine began in the late 1990's with a day trip to some of the local wineries in the Finger Lakes Region. Slowly I began to experiment with more and more wine from all over the world. Soon after I was hooked - began to read wine magazines, wine books and taste more and more wine from all over the world. Wine has become not only my favorite hobby, but also my passion. Recent wine accomplishments/achievements include:

  • Wine Brats, Rochester NY Chapter Treasurer

  • Founder of The St. Copious Wine Society - a monthly wine club dedicated to exploring/tasting/discussing wines of the world

  • Author of The Brat In The Cellar - monthly wine column featured on Robin Garr's Wine Lovers Page

  • Wine Appreciation Class [University of Rochester] - 15 hours of classroom instruction taught by Sherwood Deutsch ["one of the country's greatest wine assets and human resources" - Robert Parker, Oct. 28, 1991] , coursework completed October 2000

  • Wines of the World [Rochester Institute of Technology] - two credit college class, taught by Master of Wine Candidate Debra Meiburg, completed May 2001 with grade of "A"

  • Introductory Sommelier Course [Court of Master Sommeliers] - coursework successfully completed August 2001. Now qualified as a candidate for the Advanced Sommelier Course

  • Wine Advisor's Certificate [International Wine Academy] - home study class completed December 2001. Coursework administered by Alan Young, PhD.

  • Wine & Spirit Education Trust Advanced Certificate Program - began coursework January 2002. On target to complete program in May 2002.

Future goals include attaining the designation of Certified Wine Educator [CWE] from the Society of Wine Educators [approximately 130 in the world] and then on to the prestigious title of Master of Wine [MW]. Along the way I hope to prove my theory to everyone that will listen that "wine is more fun than you think."
