A chilly evening and a pile of the last of summer's tomatoes and green peppers prompted us to fashion a pizza tonight, and this delicious Southern Italian value made the perfect companion:
Taurino 1994 Salice Salentino Riserva ($7.99)
Clear ruby color. Fragrant roses and candy-apple aromas. Ripe red-fruit flavor structured by lemon-squirt acidity. A bit short, a bit simple, but it's still a delicious, quaffable pizza wine and a great value. Importer: Winebow Inc., NYC. (Oct. 22, 1997)

All my wine-tasting reports are consumer-oriented. In order to maintain objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, I purchase all the wines I rate at my own expense in retail stores. |
